Growing Learners Together: Our Commitment to Language & Literacy
At Kangaroo Pouch, we believe that every child deserves a joyful, language-rich start to their learning journey. One of the most important ways we support this mission is through ongoing staff training, because great teaching begins with great learning our adults.
Our team is dedicated to staying informed, inspired, and intentional in every interaction with your child. That's why we invest in professional development that aligns with the latest Georgia state standards, including the language and literacy training now required for all early care educators.
What This Training Means for Your Child
Language and literacy skills are the foundation for future success in school and beyond. In Georgia, all teaching staff - including Directors, Assistant Directors, teachers, and teacher assistants and any staff involved in guiding children's learning - are required to complete at least two (2) hours of evidence-based, developmentally appropriate language and literacy practices training each year.
This training:
- Supports children's communication and vocabulary development
- Helps staff create literacy rich classroom environments
- Encourages effective strategies like reading aloud, storytelling, and purposeful play
- Is aligned with researched-supported best practices and the Georgia Early Learning and Developmental Standards
- Meets the State's new Early Language and Literacy Lab requirement under the Georgia Early Literacy Act
